Google announced in their user support forum that they will move Hangouts On Air from Google+ and will be integrated into YouTube Live beginning September 12. Any Hangout On Air event scheduled after September 12 will need to move to YouTube Live and any existing scheduled events for Hangouts On Air need to be rescheduled via YouTube Live.

According to Venture Beat, The Hangouts group video chat was made available to all users in May of 2012 and YouTube Live was released in May 2013, now Google has decided to combine the two services.

To Set up Hangouts On Air with YouTube Live, you need to do the following:

1. Go to the Live Streaming Events section in Creator Studio within your YouTube account.
2. Click New live event.
3. Select Quick (using Google Hangouts On Air)
4. Give your live stream a title.
5. Click Go Live Now or enter in details to schedule your event for later.
6. Use Hangouts to broadcast live.

One of the main uses of Hangouts On Air was to watch the Google Webmaster Hangouts with Google’s John Mueller. According to Search Engine Roundtable, those events will still happen but Mueller said, “I imagine there will be some rocky times.”
