A new feature called “Instagram Stories” will start rolling out within the Instagram app on iOS and Android devices this week. This new feature lets you share all the moments from your day. As you share your videos and photos, they’ll appear together in a slideshow format, aka – your story. The stories will also disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear in your profile grid or feed.

You can also see other friend’s stories in a bar at the top of your feed. To view someone’s story, tap on their profile photo in the bar. This feature will not allow direct commenting on the story, instead you’ll have an option to direct message the user.

Some media outlets are saying that this is just another example of Facebook copying Snapchat like Adweek and Marketing Land. What do you think? Do you like this feature to Instagram, or is it too much like Snapchat. Let us know on Twitter @EdgeWebRadio.

Update: Reading other articles on the topic and I came across this one titled “People are using Instagram’s ‘Stories’ feature to ask for follows on Snapchat”. An interesting way to use the new feature….probably not how it was intended to be used by Instagram.
