Two weeks ago, there were reports of a Google update (which Google confirmed was unrelated to Penguin) and this week another big update seems to be brewing.
Dr. Pete Meyers, Marketing Scientist at Moz, had some of the first insight about this update noticing a big drop in image results. Here are his tweets:

Tracking an almost 50% drop in SERPs with image results. Adds to organic flux, since it frees up a page-1 position. Trying to confirm.
