According to Search Engine Land, Google has been telling some customers about a new minimum number for Seller Ratings extensions to display with AdWords ads. Businesses must have at least 150 reviews in the last 12 months – up from the previous 30 reviews.

According to an unnamed marketing agency in the Search Engine Land article, the change already has impacted many markets within the UK, US, and EU.

The new policy reads, “In most cases, your business must have at least 30 unique reviews from the past 12 months,” and “Your composite rating generally must be at least 3.5 stars or higher.” Ginny Marvin, of Search Engine Land, said that Reviews.co.uk was first to report the change and they think that this rule change will make it more difficult for smaller retailers and brands to get enough reviews to be eligible for Seller Rating extensions.

Those that don’t meet the new requirements may find that they are no longer eligible to show the Seller Ratings extensions or could even see a change in their overall ratings score.
