Pinterest announced on their blog last week that they plan on adding a native video player. This announcement came just a few days after LinkedIn announced their own native video player. According to Pinterest, they have seen an 60% increase of videos, especially with workout videos, home projects, and hair & beauty tutorials as the most popular categories.

Their studies also show that when users see a how-to video in their news feed, they are more than twice as likely to watch it versus seeing the video on other websites.

The video player hasn’t fully been developed yet, but product manager Steve Davis says that the video player will be rolled out across Pinterest in the next few months.

What do you think? How often do you watch a video in Pinterest? Marketers, will you use the Pinterest video player as another video channel?
