Twitter announced on their blog today some new anti-harassment features for users to use.

Twitter users will now be able to mute specific words and usernames from your time – not just notifications. These muted words and usernames can last for a day, a week, a month, or indefinitely.

Users will also be able to mute accounts that still use the default egg avatar. As users know, this is where a lot of the trolls and spam comes from.

They announced that they will are also increasing proactive measures to identify abusive accounts – even if it hasn’t been reported to Twitter. Not only that but also taking action against the account by allowing only a person’s direct followers to see their tweets for only a specific period of time.
